Another couple was not so fortunate and was forced to move their luggage to a clear plastic garbage bag by this gate agent after being unable to pay for bags. This continued until I pulled up a size chart and clearly showed the agent my bag was within personal bag limits. ![]() ![]() The gate agent informed me if I didn't pay then the contents of my personal item would have to be moved to a "clear trash bag provided by Spirit" and the personal bag be left behind. The real problem was a different agent later tried charging me for the small and obvious personal item upon starting the boarding process. It was resolved appropriately, without incident or cost as I was able to clearly show I was never informed. Airline did not inform me of this policy so I wasn't aware they charge for carry-on bags but was able to handle this without issue at the gate counter with a polite agent. $100 for a bag at the gate? Additonally the range is anywhere from about $40 to $ 55 if purchased in advance. This was a terrible situation where I feel like I was the victim of a scam."Ĭons: "Excessive fees for bags seems almost criminal. In all, I was given 6 different numbers or lines to call to sort through this situation. I ended up not able to cancel the flight or even speak w a Frontier rep before my flight departed. HOURS I tried to call, and could not get a rep. I tried calling Frontier directly, but their reservation desk was closed due to their system being down. She told me that I could appeal the conditions of the travel insurance, but I would have to present a death certificate of the friend's baby that had just passed - the reason the baby shower was cancelled, and the reason this trip was cancelled. Turns out that the flight insurance was only available for international flights? When I ask the agent why it was the recommended during purchase, she said I should have read the full terms and conditions during checkout. Cons: "Tried to cancel this flight using the flight insurance I was up sold during checkout. ![]()
